LSG, an impact agency specializing in brand building, corporate reputation management, and public affairs, is seeking a director to join our team in Washington, D.C. The candidate will serve as a campaign manager for new and existing LSG public affairs clients.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in public affairs or advocacy, including participation and management of political and/or complex issue campaigns. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the U.S. political and legislative landscape at the federal, state, and local level, as well as an interest in corporate communications and media campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategy, implementation, and execution of integrated public affairs and communications campaigns with a focus on federal policy issues.
  • Lead management of LSG public affairs, advocacy, and communications state teams across the U.S., managing multiple consultants operating simultaneously across states/markets.
  • Support the development of various communications materials, including messaging documents, talking points, and press materials such as media advisories, press releases, op-eds/LTEs, social media content, ad copy, etc.
  • Lead the development and delivery of client reporting (written and verbal), including the management of weekly reports, key metrics, and client presentations.
  • Portfolio will include a range of projects of various scopes and sizes across multiple industries related to public affairs initiatives, issue advocacy campaigns, grassroots/grasstops coalition-building, community outreach, media relations, and/or political affairs campaigns.
  • Maintain an active understanding of ongoing LSG clients and campaigns across the firm’s practice areas to offer ongoing, relevant strategic support in coordination with LSG leadership.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and expertise on relevant business narratives and political/advocacy issues in Congress, the White House, state legislatures, regulatory agencies, and other public policy or issue advocacy topics.
  • Collaborate with LSG team members, working together to delegate tasks, establish and meet project goals, and pitch-in to support the work product as part of a dynamic, fast-moving work environment.
  • Support the business development process, including brainstorming, writing, and editing of LSG strategic plans and proposals to prospective clients.
  • Nurture and grow relationships with clients and internal staff—with an emphasis on mentoring, supporting, and collaborating with LSG team members to support broader business goals, objectives, and processes.

Qualifications

  • Ability to show applicable experience (at least 5-7 years)
  • Public affairs agency, political campaign, and/or project management experience where a candidate can demonstrate a proven ability to manage multi-faceted projects, is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Desired Skills & Expertise

  • Self-Accountable + Collaborative. Demonstrated ability to operate as a self-starter and independently, achieving assigned responsibilities on or ahead of deadlines, while delivering the highest-quality work product. While self-accountability is essential, so is collaboration and team building. This role will work day-to-day with diverse members of LSG’s team at all levels.
  • Exceptional writing skills. Proven writing and editing capabilities to support the development of various high-quality communications and content materials, including proposals, PowerPoints, messaging materials, talking points, letters, op-eds/LTEs, social media content, media advisories, press releases, and corporate statements.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively, ensuring work product is relevant, inspiring, and impactful.

Location

This position will be based in our Washington, D.C. office. LSG is operating in a hybrid work environment, with all staff working at least two days in the office every week (or more, if needed, by your team or LSG leadership). You may be expected to travel for client-work as needed.
